Itinerary
- Tour stop
We visit the iconic Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Here giant ice, bergs and chucks, bobble in the calm lagoon after having calved off the enormous Vatnajökull glacier to the immediate north. Eventually this ice will drift out to sea. The lagoon is magical in the summer, when the sun ripples through the ice, resulting in beautiful colors.
- Tour stop
Just to the south of Jökulsárlón lies Fellsfjara beach, or as it is commonly called the Diamond Beach. After the ice from the glacier lagoon drifts out to sea, the tide washes it back ashore on this desolutely beautiful volcanic black sand beach. Often there can be countless shards of ice of all sizes - from rock size upto the size of a small car. The contract between to glistening ice and the black sand is really something to behold.
- Tour stop
Eystrahorn marks the point in which south Iceland merges into the east. The remote marker is a spectacular sight to behold - its horn shape peak looming over Hvalnes Peninsula with the Atlantic ocean to the south. This is a great photo opportunity.
