About this experience
The tour to Thórsmörk is probably one of our favorites for its diversity.
It is a great balance between a hiking tour and a sightseeing tour, which an overwhelming feeling of adventure. During our day, we will cross many rivers, either with our 33inch 4x4 LandCruiser or wading through them.
We will spend the whole day away from civilization, in a remote, untouched, nature.

Itinerary
- Tour stop
Driving to our first destination will take around 2 hours. We will begin on a paved road, the main road in Iceland, then we will switch to mountain roads. This itinerary involves MANY river crossings! Feeling of adventure, guaranteed!
- Tour stop
Our first stop will be inside of a canyon. To reach a waterfall at the end of the canyon, we will have to find our way inside of the gorge. By the end of it, we will have no other choice, but to remove our shoes and wade through the river, to reach a stunning waterfall located right beneath a skylight.
- Tour stop
We will stop by the back side of the glacier covering the volcano that blew up in 2010. The glacier (as the volcano) is called Eyjafjallajökull. An outlet of this glacier, called Gígjökull is visible from the back of the glacier. We will go and do a quick visit there.
- Tour stop
The canyon of stakkholtsgjá is wide and beautiful. We will hike inside of it, all the way to its end.
- Tour stop
Many hikes are available in the valley of Thórsmörk. Thórsmörk is an oasis in Iceland, a lush valley with vegetation like nowhere else in the country. Our favourite hike is the one heading to the top of Valahnúkur, which offers a 360 degrees view all over the valley.
- Tour stop
We will drive back towards Reykjavík, which should take us around 3 hours.
