About this experience
Experience Iceland’s most famous route without the crowds of shared buses. This fully private, customizable tour lets you set the pace. Walk the rust-red rim of Kerið volcanic crater, feel the mist of the roaring Gullfoss waterfall, and watch Strokkur erupt at the Geysir geothermal area. Break for an immersive lunch among the plants at Friðheimar tomato greenhouse. Finally, walk between two shifting tectonic plates at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. A seamlessly paced day, beginning and ending right at your doorstep in Reykjavík.
Itinerary
- Tour stop
Begin the day with an unhurried walk around the rim of Kerið, where rust-red volcanic walls fall away to a deep blue-green crater lake. A quietly cinematic introduction to Iceland's volcanic past.
- Tour stop
Stand at the edge of Iceland's most beloved waterfall as glacial meltwater from Langjökull tumbles in two stages into a mist-filled canyon. The sound reaches you long before the view does.
- Tour stop
An all-inclusive lunch served inside a working geothermal greenhouse, surrounded by climbing tomato vines and the resident herd of Icelandic horses next door.
- Tour stop
Walk through the steaming geothermal field that gave every geyser in the world its name, and watch Strokkur erupt skyward every few minutes.
- Tour stop
Close the day at Iceland's UNESCO World Heritage site, where the first parliament convened in 930 AD and the continental rift between two tectonic plates is visible underfoot.
