About this experience
See the Golden Circle and the quieter places most tours skip, on a private day from Reykjavik with your own driver-guide. Ideal for couples, families and small groups who want to set their own pace.
After pickup in Reykjavik, walk between two continents at Þingvellir, watch Strokkur erupt at Geysir, and stand above the two-tier drop of Gullfoss. Add the bright blue water of Brúarfoss, the narrow Brúarhlöð gorge, homemade ice cream at Efstidalur family farm, and the red slopes of Kerið crater.
Travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with WiFi, with parking fees and the Kerið entrance fee included. Your guide adjusts timing around weather, light and your interests. Meals and farm ice cream are paid locally.

Itinerary
- Tour stop
After pickup in Reykjavik, travel east with your private driver-guide toward the Golden Circle. The stop order and time at each location may change with weather, road conditions, daylight and your group's interests. The Kerið entrance fee is included; meals and farm treats are paid locally. Lunch at Friðheimar tomato greenhouse is available on request: tell us when booking and we will reserve a table and adjust the day around it.
Pass by without stopping - Tour stop
Walk through the Almannagjá gorge, where the North American and Eurasian plates are pulling apart. This is also where Iceland's parliament, the Alþingi, first met in 930. Your guide explains both the geology and the history. Paths are well maintained, with some slopes.
- Tour stop
Stop at a family-run dairy farm where you can see the cows through the barn window and try ice cream made from their milk. Ice cream, drinks and meals are purchased locally.
- Tour stop
See Brúarfoss, known for the bright blue glacial water of the Brúará river running over dark rock. The visit involves a short walk on a gravel path from the parking area. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
- Tour stop
Walk the Haukadalur geothermal area and watch the Strokkur geyser, which erupts every few minutes. Stay on marked paths; the water and ground nearby are very hot.
- Tour stop
View Gullfoss from the upper and lower viewpoints as the Hvítá river drops in two stages into a deep canyon. Spray can be heavy, so a waterproof jacket is useful in every season.
- Tour stop
Stop at a quiet gorge where the Hvítá river narrows between tall rock pillars. Few tours stop here, so it is usually calm and good for photographs.
- Tour stop
Walk the rim of Kerið, a volcanic crater with red slopes and a blue-green lake, or take the steps down to the water. The crater is on private land with an entrance fee, which is included in your tour price. After the visit, return to Reykjavik.
