Welcome to the Geysir Geothermal Area, one of Iceland’s most famous natural attractions. Although the original Geysir is mostly inactive today, it gave its name to all geysers around the world. The main attraction here is Strokkur, which erupts every 5–10 minutes, sending hot water up to 20–30 meters into the air. This geothermal area is powered by Iceland’s volcanic activity beneath the ground. Please stay on the marked paths, as the water is extremely hot.

The waterfall has two dramatic drops, creating an impressive canyon and often producing beautiful rainbows on sunny days. Gullfoss means “Golden Falls,” and it is one of the highlights of the Golden Circle tour.
