Itinerary

  1. Tour stop

Our first stop is the spectacular Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Seljalandsfoss is just over 60m surrounded by beautiful cliffs and slopes. There is a footpath behind the waterfall where depending on road conditions we can actually take a walk behind the waterfall for a different view.

  2. Tour stop

Our super jeep will then take us to Gigjökull glacier, which is a calf glacier of the notorious Eyjafjallajökull, the glacier-covered volcano which erupted in 2010. During the eruption millions of litres of melted ice from Gigjökull bursted down the mountainside causing massive destructive floods on its way to the Atlantic.

  3. Tour stop

Our next stop is Stakkholtsgja canyon. The canyon is about 2km long and up to 100m deep. Where weather conditions allow we will spend some quality time here as well to venture into the mystical canyon. We will then move on to Basar which is popular amongst hiking enthusiasts. Here we can do an optional leisurely hike (around half an hour) to have a different taste of the valley. Probably owing to the microclimate in Thorsmork, a lush forest has developed in the middle of the mostly moss lined valley, making it an interesting change of scenery.
